West Dorset Mental Health Forum
The West Dorset Mental Health Forum exists to improve the lives of all adults affected by mental illness, by providing an advocacy service, support and information, and by influencing local and regional policies.
What is the Forum?
The forum was set up for and by users of mental health services. It is an independent organisation funded by Dorset Social Care and Health and the North Dorset Primary Care Trust.
Who can join?
Users and past-users of the mental health services, adult members of their families, their friends and carers. Anyone with mental health difficulties, past or present. Membership is free and open to all users, anyone interested in mental health - friends, carers, relatives, and professionals.
What does it do?
The forum provides a free advocacy service. Members of the forum represent the views of the service users on various social care and health committees.
The forum gives information and advice and can "signpost" people to other agencies if needed and possible. The forum also provides day services in North Dorset.
